I’ve been checking-in locations using Foursquare for some time now, comparing to Google Latitude, it is definitely more interesting and has more potential. Foursquare allows users to share their whereabouts with their friends, recommend places to go and things to do nearby. For frequent hangout places, you’ll be crowned the ‘Mayor’ of that location where you’ll be entitled to freebies – see screen-shot below.
In the future, we might be able to check-in to a restaurant or cafe where we’ll be able to see the menu, reserve a table and even placing orders through Foursquare. That being said, I won’t be surprised if the next time we check-in to a departmental store and we’ll be able to see a list of items sold in the store with prices and discounts. After selecting an item from the list, the augmented reality function will be triggered and it’ll direct you to where the item is located.
So, how do you think mobile social media platform like Foursquare can transform the way we interact in the future, and how businesses can make use of it?
